Before Applying

  • You must have a US Social Security number. ITINs are not accepted

  • Completed an out-of-country program that includes supervised clinical experience across the life span as part of the curriculum and is equivalent to the already ND Board of Nursing-approved programs.

  • Created a Nurse Portal account: https://ndbon.boardsofnursing.org/ndbn/

Application Process

  • On the Nurse Portal, Complete Initial LPN or RN License by Exam Application for Internationally Educated Nurses

  • Submit the CES Report from TruMerit (formerly CGFNS)

  • Register for the NCLEX exam with Pearson VUE: https://www.nclex.com/register.page

  • Complete a Criminal History Record Check: https://www.ndbon.org/chrc/
